BA looking for guidance on Compatibility Updates
Hi All -
I am a business analyst that has been tasked to create a functional specification with basic API references and pseudocode examples for an application to update parts compatibility / fitment for motorcycle parts. I have been reading eBay API documentation and rather than figuring out the basic actions that need to happen I am becoming more confused.
What the client has requested is that, using the current listing tool, SixBit Software provided listing tool,
They enter a manufacturers part number when creating a listing, not adding any compatibility information.
List item.
At a specified interval ( guestimating every 6 to 12 hours ) a call is made to look for records (items) listed with a manufacturers part number and no compatibility information.
If an item is found that meets the specified criteria ( i.e. a part number but no compatibility information) the record is then updated from an existing parts database kept in house that is maintained as a master record of parts compatibility.
What I am looking for is just a bit of guidance on if this seems foolish and any direction to where to look in the API documentation to see if this is a possibility.
Thanks !

Hi,
I am not sure if i get your question. Do you want to know how to list an item using the compatibilty list? if so, you can find all about the vehicle compatibilites here :http://ppics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/motors/compatibility/download/MVL_10222013.zip . Sellers use the latest eBay compatibility list in the AddItem/AddfixedPrice Item (http://developer.ebay.com/DevZone/XML/docs/Reference/eBay/AddItem.html#Request.Item.ItemCompatibilityList) and list their item.
Please let me know if this does not answer your question
Cheers!!
