Question by davicapp33 · Jan 29, 2018 at 12:05 PM · compatible application check

Compatible Application - will the check need to be re-done for new versions?

We're developing an integration for our ERP application which uses eBay's APIs to download orders from ebay, and upload inventory/availability information. Since we're approaching the call limits, we'll need to be certified as a compatible application; one question is, under what circumstances would we need to re-submit our application for certification?

-When we add a feature that involves us calling new APIs (e.g. we don't currently support creating new listings, but we might add that feature in the future?)

-When we make any changes to our ebay integration but still using the same APIs (e.g. we add support for importing more fields from ebay into our ERP order system)

-When we make any bug fixes at all to our ERP application, even if they aren't intended to impact the ebay integration at all (hopefully not in this situation...!)

-Under none of these circumstances, provided we're happy with the new call limits we don't need to resubmit when we release new versions of our app

Thanks,

Hello davicapp33,

I apologize for the delay of reply.

1.Q: When we add a feature that involves us calling new (e.g. we don't currently support creating new listings, but we might add that feature in the future?)

A: When you add a new feature by using eBay new APIs like Inventory API and you want to increase this call limit from default. Then you need to file an app check ticket. If you are satisfied with default call limits, then you don't need to resubmit app check.

2.Q: When we make any changes to our ebay integration but still using the same APIs (e.g. we add support for importing more fields from ebay into our ERP order system)

A: In this case, you don't need to re submit an app check ticket.

3.Q: When we make any bug fixes at all to our ERP application, even if they aren't intended to impact the ebay integration at all (hopefully not in this situation...!)

A: For bug fix and improvement purpose, you still don't need to resubmit compatible application check.

4.Q: Under none of these circumstances, provided we're happy with the new call limits we don't need to resubmit when we release new versions of our app

A: We recommend our developers to resubmit the app check for their big upgrade like from 1.0 to 2.0 version. We will be happy to review the api usage of upgraded application to make sure it is still complying with the requirements for the Compatible Application Check.

In addition, we would suggest our clients do not switch their keysets which have passed app check to other new different applications. Developers can apply for new keysets for their totally new applications.

Please let me know if it helps and be free to let us know if you have any other questions.

Best Regards

That's great, thanks - not having to resubmit simply for bugfixes is the important thing as far as we're concerned :)

We'll start the app check process this week.
