Why can't getOffers handle multiple hashes (#) in SKU?

I have SKUs with multiple hashes (#) in them. The two API calls createOrReplaceInventoryItem and deleteInventoryItem can handle them without problems. But the getOffers API call always errors out with the response {"errors": [{ "errorId": 25001, "domain": "API_INVENTORY", "subdomain": "Selling", "category": "SYSTEM", "message": "A system error has occurred." }]} as soon as I have more than one # in the SKU. Is this some kind of getOffers specific bug?
