Process DownloadFile Response terms and conditions

Now, the client is asking me to just read the XML automatically, and perform basic tasks or create basic reports, based upon the contents of that response. Is this permitted? A few months back, I created an application for a client, that uses the LMS workflow to update inventory counts. While I was learning the LMS workflow, I thought I read that the client was required to read the DownloadFile response, and that I wasn't permitted to process or perform automatic functions based on that DownloadFile response. Now, I am not able to find what I thought I read. Do I remember correctly? If so, can someone give me a link to the relevant terms I agreed to, so I can keep a copy and share with the client? If I do remember correctly, does anyone have tips on how to help clients who are intimidated by XML? And if I don't remember correctly, is there a list somewhere of all the various node types and values that could be contained in that XML, so I can be sure I am handling everything? I didn't find it in the LMS or DownloadFile documentation at http://developer.ebay.com/DevZone/bulk-data-exchange/CallRef/startUploadJob.html or http://developer.ebay.com/DevZone/file-transfer/CallRef/downloadFile.html.
