getTopSellingProducts strange behavior

Hello, It's been a while since I've started to play with eBay Merchandise API, but I still don't understand how _getTopSellingProducts_ behave. It returns a bunch of products whose links lead to "product not available" catalog page. Recently, I found ebay's website ( http://datalabs.ebay.com/popular.html) through google, which enlists a whole different list of top sold items. How do you guys achieve this? Are you using a private API? Are there plans to open it to the developers? Thanks, Lev

Look at the json requests made by the datalabs page. You can fetch the data by making the same request. But there's no guarantee that the data will remain available/unblocked since it isn't a published API. http://bpe.ebay.com/trendsrv/v1/popular/items?interval=trail60min&siteid=0&catid=&level=&activity=sold&query=

It's very unreliable , I would recommend to stay away from it. I tried using it and it's definitely still in beta.

I agree with @erateexercis-0, it's too risky to use that endpoint. What makes me curious, is how they get these products...

eBay Data Labs is an internal business unit, so they have access to eBay's data at a level far deeper than that which they expose via the API to developers. It sure would be fantastic if eBay's API made available the kind of trending data that that most popular/watched/viewed/sold tool displays. Years ago, the eBay API mimicked nearly all data points and search functionality available on the eBay website. But over time they changed things on the website but didn't add parallel features/items/tools into the API for us devs. Divergence began, and I doubt there's any hope in the gap being closed anytime soon.

It seems that in fact, they have an available trends API (as said by @clickimusprime above - http://bpe.ebay.com/trendsrv/), which is unfortunately, undocumented. If there was a way to cooperate with someone from ebay to get the documentation, that would be awesome!
