New eBay API tool available.
Hi everyone. I'm excited to announce the beta release of Gerty, the developer studio for exaploring the eBay API.
This is a desktop application that is very similar to eBay's API explorer. So if you're familiar with that tool you should have no problem using it.
This is a desktop application that I've develop and I'm making it available in the hope that people will find it useful. At the moment you can use the application to explore the eBay API, however I'm looking at adding other functionality in the future.
You can download it via http://getgerty.com and there is a quick getting started guide available to get you up and running. Please note that Gerty is in no way endorsed, sponsored or maintained by eBay, so don't pester their support regarding this.
Be aware that this application is a beta version. While it should be OK to use, there will be bugs and that future updates may not be backwards compatible with your current settings.
Below is some of the interesting features of Gerty.
Available for Windows and Linux users.
Extensive API Support: You can make requests to most of the eBay services, including eBay's new RESTful APIs.
Environment Support: Make requests to both the sandbox and production APIs.
Key Set Management: Manage multiple developer application keys. Store both Auth'n'auth and OAuth tokens with each key set.
Multiple Requests: Open multiple tabs within the application and use each one to make a different API request.

Hi David, good work on the tool. Since you clearly have a good knowledge of the available eBay API's, are you aware of any way to get the authenticated users details (mainly username)?
I've developed some stuff against the new analytics API's and can retrieve all the information for a specific user, however there appears to be no way to see who that user actually is. Most providers have a 'getUser' API call you can make to retrieve the currently logged in user but it appears eBay doesn't have anything similar.
Thanks for your time.
